Wagamama | the food diaries





























As some of you may know, I turned 18 yesterday and despite the fact that London was busier than ever, I managed to find a near empty Wagamama in Piccadilly to grab a bite to eat. I love eating out in London, it's food is some of the most versatile and varied in the world. I'd like to say I've been to a fair few Japanese restaurants, but I'd never actually been to a Wagamama restaurant before! I know, it's almost a right of passage for people in the big cities here in England to eat in Wagamama, as I'm sure it is for a lot of other places, but despite knowing all about it (and owning their recipe book!) this was my very first time.





























For my starter I stuck with something that I loved and went for the Ebi Gyoza. For those of you who don't know, Gyoza are little parcels, or what I like to call parcels of paradise, filled with some lovely finely chopped vegetables and a meat of your choice, prawns or just more vegetables. I of course went for the prawns, as I'm a sucker for anything to do with sea food (hence why I love Sushi). They're deep fried and served with a delightful Citrus Ponzu Sauce. What a wonderful way to start a meal! I also accompanied this dish with my very first legal alcoholic beverage, and I chose the Plum wine, a very sweet and beautiful drink.































For my main course I chose this iridescent dish, the Yasai Yaki Soba. As well as being a beautiful site, the flavours were amazing. The noodles are cooked with an array of vegetables like mushrooms, peppers, bean sprouts with Egg, then garnished with some sharp Japanese pink pickled beetroot and sesame seeds. I absolutely adored this meal, it wasn't too filling but definitely hit the spot. Thats the great thing about Wagamama, they only serve the most deliciously healthy meals, and always include vegetables.





























Lastly, for dessert I couldn't chose just one type of cake, so I went for the 3 cake selection which consisted of; Passion Fruit, White Chocolate and Ginger Cheese and Chocolate Fudge cake. They all looked and tasted tantalisingly good, but if I had to choose a favourite, I think I'd choose the Chocolate Fudge cake (lent is not going well). It was oozing with sauce and was so light and delicious. The White Chocolate and Ginger Cheese Cake was a very surprising combination, as I'd never imagined cheese and ginger going well together, yet they did! As for the passion fruit cake, it was bursting with flavour and I was so sad when I finished the last mouthful. 

As you can probably tell I had a wonderful first experience eating at Wagamama, and the staff there were so lovely, and even wished me happy birthday. I will no doubt be visiting wagamama again and again from now onwards, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, refreshing new place to dine.
