Vintage Sunglasses | The Summer Holiday Edit

It's always been a dream of mine to own a pair of vintage sunglasses for summer. It's becoming more and more obvious that fashion these days is taking a lot of inspiration from the 60s, 70s and 80s as well as always channelling a touch of the 90s. Vintage sunglasses (whilst my history is almost always inaccurate) came around in roughly the 70's and are known as vintage nowadays for their circular retro look. I just love them. What a major throwback for summer 2015! Thanks to The Glasses Shop the Seyne Round Sunglasses* in Tortoise were the perfect pair to channel a vintage look this summer. What are your favourite sunglasses?

New in Skincare | Sk:n

When it comes to skincare I'm always trying out new products or trying to get my hands on some, nothing excites me more, and I don't think that's a bad thing. The health of my skin is paramount to me and in the words of Caroline Hirons, I invest in it. Whether thats time or money, I simply cannot justify putting layers of makeup on skin that hasn't been cleansed or treated well. That's why skincare lies at the heart of my passion for all things beauty related. I've had the privileged opportunity in the last few weeks to try out two amazing products from the brand sk:n one of the UK's leading skin clinics offering a plethora of treatments and products to bring out the best in your complexion, promoting inner and outer beauty.

Free Ren Skincare Essentials with this months Red Magazine

I feel like magazines are slowly becoming more and more digitally based and the magazines that we buy from the shops now have cheaper subscription services (Cosmo magazine is even on Snapchat's explore section!). We all have busy lives and hardly any time so it's always a convenience to just download the magazine you like to read on your tablet or phone, but some of the obvious perks of buying the magazine in store are the free gifts. Do you prefer magazines on your gadgets or in physical form? If you're a regular reader over here then you'll know that I love Ren. Their skincare and beauty is legendary and has always worked well with my skin. In this months Red magazine, full of lifestyle beauty and fashion tips and articles, there are three mini samples from Ren's Vita Mineral range.

The Food Diaries: The Hummingbird Bakery

After visiting the Hummingbird Bakery in South Kensington, London, (for the first time may I add) I seriously believe a large chunk of heaven was brought to us in the form of the most delectable, beautiful cakes I've ever seen. The sight of these cakes is enough to make you drool, for a while I was just stunned in awe of the selection on offer. In this particular branch they have a wide variety if cup cakes, brownies and cakes as well as a seating area to enjoy the scenery and the taste. If you choose to take the cake/brownie away, then they're specially wrapped in Hummingbird's signature gift wraps. It really doesn't get better than this!

10 confessions we can all relate to | TOTD

Today's TOTD or Thoughts of the day post comes in the form of 10 confessions that I definitely think (and hope) we can all relate to. With exams, tight schedules, work and just a whole load of stress, I do often cut corners and take short cuts, or just plain give up. Do you feel the same? As the summer approaches I want to get into a more consistent beauty, style and life routine worth sticking to, plus with exams almost over I'm hoping that'll begin soon. And with that said, these 10 confessions may be just what I need to motivate myself this month, what are your guilty/embarrassing/lazy habits?

Currently Loving #2

You may be able to tell I've paid yet another visit to The Body Shop, among other places. I just love it there okay! June has come so quickly and it's just over a month until A So Called Beauty Blog turns 1 years old. It's just crazy! I started this Currently Loving series because although I used to do a monthly favourites post, I never had enough good things to talk about. So, with Currently Loving, whenever I fancy sticking a few items that I've been loving over the weeks here on my blog, I can share them at any time with you guys. With it being summer, my beauty routine has slightly changed, but as always, the fruity smells are still present.

This month in the makeup department, I've been using Le Lip Liner Magique in L'oreal Paris' Colour Riche collection. For those of you who aren't familiar with this product or like me, have been walking past it for months wondering what exactly it does, then you'll be happy to know that it goes a long way in protecting and prolonging the life of your lip liner or lipstick. It acts as a top coat protectant or a base coat lip primer. If you're wearing a heavy lip liner and a dark shade of lip stick, this magic stick can prime the lips for just that and make sure it lasts the whole day (or night for you party goers). I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and I've noticed a huge difference in the wear of my liners and lip sticks! The only issue I have with this product is how the actual stick doesn't last very long and after around 10 uses I have to repurchase it. Ironic really!

Another makeup favourite which you may have seen on my blog before, is in Born Pretty's UBUB range and it's the Deep Sea Elements Double Liquid Liner*. Unlike most liquid liners, this one is super easy to apply and looks so beautiful on. If you'd like to read a full review then just head on over to my previous post. I also have a discount code for Born Pretty (CALLG10) for 10% off!
In the body care department, I have yet another Body Shop favourite. If you're a fan of Emma Hardie's Moringa Cleansing balm then you'll be very familiar with the beautiful aroma of the moringa plant. I have loved the smell ever since I started using the balm, so who could blame me for wanting more? The Body Shop have a wonderful Moringa Sorbet which is like a light body moisturiser, perfect for the summer when you don't want or need to cake you body in too much thick moisturiser. It's smell is not to offensive but stays with you just enough for you to enjoy. My skin is noticeably smoother and feels amazing after use.

The Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash is a rather new product for me, but I'm certainly not new to the range itself! I've used almost all of the Body Shops Vitamin E range, so I just knew I had to try out this one. If you like foaming cleansers, like me, but due to recent warnings that what they contain is bad for your skin have been scared to use them, then this cleanser may just allow some repose. It does have a lovely foam but isn't blatantly foaming and doesn't contain the typical nasties that foaming cleansers unfortunately have. This all in one cleanser, is perfect for a single morning cleanse or a second evening cleanse (it's also perfect when used with an exfoliating brush like my one).
Last but not least, I've been enjoying the Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream and I'm really loving it. This product is a Birch Box exclusive and I got it as a sample quite a while ago. When I went looking for it I found out it was £50 for the full tub! Maybe in a few months I might invest! As for the cream, I can see why its so expensive. It works on the skins issues straight away and the results are amazing. My skin was smoother, my blemishes were hugely reduced and the best thing is that although it's highly moisturising, it's not greasy at all. It has a lovely smell and a little certainly goes a long way. This is an investment, but definitely worth it!

What have you been lovely lately? Tried any of my favourites?
